Where can you listen to the Goon Show in the 21st century? Lots of places, it turns out.

Goon Pod

Top of my list, before we get to the episodes themselves, has to be Goon Pod. It's a podcast hosted by Tyler Adams exploring the Goons, their legacy, related films, and pretty much anything related to Milligan, Sellers, Secombe et al.
Guests have included Jane Milligan (Spike's daughter), comedian Al Murray, legendary BBC producer Dirk Maggs, various comedians, writers, podcasters, and, er, me.

Follow the podcast on Twitter and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. Do it! You won't regret it.

Spotify

Spotify subscribers can access Goon Show episodes through several channels.

  • This one has 140 episodes across 14 volumes available. The quality varies, though, and one or two have chunks of episodes missing.

  • This channel has more of a mix of things. There are lots of songs and compilations featuring other contemporary comedians in musical mode, as well as more than 160 episodes (and multiple copies of some). Scroll through the random wrongly tagged stuff to the Goon gold.

  • The 'Old Radio Shows' podcast has a mix of all sorts of shows from the Goons' era, including I'm Sorry I'll Read That AgainThe Clitheroe KidDad's ArmyLife With The LyonsThe Navy LarkHancock's Half Hour, and many others.

  • There's a dedicated Goon Show "podcast" that has published a bunch of shows, here. Not to be confused with Goon Pod!

CDs

The BBC's Radio Collection has 34 releases with four episodes each. These are the ones I'm familiar with, as the cassette versions of several were played regularly during my childhood. Many of the earlier ones are abridged or edited versions of shows, however, and it's not until you get to the compendiums (see below) that you find restored full versions.

Each collection is named after a catchphrase, quote, or episode.
