Ray Ellington seeks new guitarist!

On this day in 1953, the New Musical Express reported a change in staffing for Ray Ellington's quartet.

If you haven't applied yet, I fear you may be a little late. Laurie Deniz was replaced by Lauderic Caton, while Judd Proctor took over in 1955.

Dick Katz, mentioned in the article as Ellington's manager, was also the pianist with the quartet.

Coleridge Goode was bassist with the quartet right up until 1951, when he left - just after recording the pilot episode of Crazy People. He gave an interview to All About Jazz in 2012 in which he talks about how he helped form the quartet.
